Margin Improvements: Led a nursing department budget restructure which resulted in the creation of a centralized staffing and scheduling model and creation of a flexible labor pool for the organization. These efforts resulted in an overall reduced overtime and incentive program spend by 6% year over year. An additional benefit that were realized was an exploration of alternative models of nursing care and staff schedules which better aligned with organizational trends and volumes., Length of Stay Decreases: Drove 6% improvements in Adjusted Length of stay per occupied bed with the optimization of Interdisciplinary Plan of Care Rounds with actionable responsibilities for the attendees. Reworking the format and assigning accountability for specific tasks has led to our drastic success in reducing our length of stay by 9.2 hours per day, resulting in discharge order being placed three hours sooner, on average., Creating a Partnership between Nursing and the Methodist Foundation in fund raising efforts which netted the organization a $200,000 contribution to be reinvested in the department of nursing for key patient care activities. The results of these efforts went to an investment in $50,000 being donated to the Critical Care unit to purchase early mobility equipment to allow for mobilization of patients on ventilators., Led Team to achieve 2nd System Magnet Re-designation for Thomas Jefferson University Health System, Inc. Efforts in the form of written contributions to the magnet document that went straight to site survey by the ANCC. TJUH was recognized for 4 exemplars in the document that were validated on site visit., Assisted in the Creation of the Organizations first Clinical Ladder Recognition Program which recognized bedside nurses for their exemplary contribution to their profession and to the outstanding nursing outcomes for the patients for whom we provide care. This proposal led to an organizational investment for financial incentives for the department of nursing of 2.5 billion dollars in the first year of the program with over 265 nurses achieving clinical ladder status across (3) campuses., Maintained Gold Level Beacon Award for Acute Care of the Elderly Inpatient Unit: Earned prestigious recognition for 2 consecutive re-designation periods. This award is granted by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses which is the highest level of achievement for Critical Care units which demonstrates staff driven excellence in sustained unit performance and improved patient outcomes that exceed national benchmarks., AMSN Prism Award achievement from a niche inpatient headache unit| B5 a 45-bed medical surgical nursing care unit maintained its PRISM Award designation for the second consecutive period since receiving the award. This award recognizes Medical Surgical units who demonstrate exemplary patient care outcomes in the domain of quality, innovation, patient satisfaction and employee engagement. Only 5% of med surg units nationally have received this renowned recognition and B5 med surg unit has maintained this award for two consecutive designations., Focused Efforts around Retention and Recruitment of Nursing Staff: Created a program to engage all front line leaders which involved listening sessions for staff to share feedback with leadership on ways to improve the work environment. Based on feedback, instrumental programs were created which included a structured rewards and recognition program, Clinical Ladder Program for staff nurses as well as the Clinical Ladder Program for nurse leaders, and increased opportunities for professional development for formal and informal leaders in the organization.
