Assist water quality programs including water quality sampling and backflow prevention compliance, updating and modifying department policies and Town Ordinances related to water quality monitoring and backflow compliance. Responsible for producing sampling schedules and performing water quality sampling in accordance with State and Federal Regulations. Maintain working relationships with laboratories, review and interpret laboratory analysis and requests the required and appropriate bottle sets for different and various sampling analyses. Create and maintain databases for water quality data to be kept on record or submitted to ADEQ. Assist with reports for compliance purposes that include consumer confidence reports and utility annual reports. Work with the Utility’s management to assist in solving water quality issues. Assist with purchasing of materials and equipment related to water quality programs. Assist with and ensures that the water quality monitoring and backflow prevention programs are in compliance with Federal and State drinking water regulations. Responsible to stay informed on current water quality regulations, pending changes, and reporting on the potential impact of those changes on the Utility. Investigate and respond to customer inquiries regarding water quality concerns. Understanding of the Arizona Drinking Water Rule and staying current with additions and changes related to the rule. Assist with the Backflow Prevention program, notifying customers that testing is due, installing construction backflow prevention devices, and updating the program database. Perform backflow duties if the program administrator is not present. Certified in backflow prevention. Computer skills including database entry, spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word. Operate, maintain and repair water production facilities including wells, boosters, reservoirs, electrical control equipment, security, and chemical systems. Operate, maintain and repair all above-ground facilities and equipment, security, and chemical systems. Perform preventative maintenance on water production facilities. Repair and install flow meters and determine flow rates. Analyze water for chlorine residual concentration, distribute sodium hypochlorite for disinfection and maintain chlorinator stations. Provide assistance in reading production meters and instrumentation and document production activities, logs, and records. Follow and implement OSHA requirements pertaining to water utility safety. Research, resolve and respond to customer inquiries.
Primary responsibilities included operating, monitoring and maintaining the AMI metering equipment, related components, and manual meter reading as needed for proper regulation of water usage and customer billing. Participate in meter related programs including meter installations, meter replacements, meter testing, meter cable replacements and testing on other related components essential for a trouble free meter read reporting system. Perform water service line repairs for all metered services, including AMS replacements. Perform testing and repairs to commercial water meters. Perform water service turn on and turn off procedures. Research, analyze and interpret electronic data using various forms of electronic devices and related software to resolve and respond to customer inquiries, water usage, work orders and daily work assignments. During cycle maintenance, checks for leaks, reports and repairs minor acts of vandalism to meter equipment. Assist customer service personnel in resolving customer concerns and completing work orders. Assist with verification of water plans, bluestaking and repair of water mains and fire hydrants. Enforce and monitor water theft security. Assist with maintenance of water distribution components and water production equipment. Assist with water quality sampling, transporting samples to a laboratory and conservation outreach efforts.
