Assisted daily operations at a busy family medicine residency clinic with 30 residents and 12 attending physicians. Gained knowledge of vaccines and the I-CARE Illinois state site. Monitored vaccine inventory, reconciled counts, and placed orders for clinic vaccines. Maintained cleanliness and functionality of vaccine refrigerators and temperature loggers, documenting information in the I-CARE site. Participated in preparations for the Joint Commission survey. • The position consisted of managing medical care for 24 developmentally disabled clients. The job duties included, but were not limited to, checking in and monitoring all medications given, assessing medical problems and addressing them, accompanying clients to doctor appointments, communicating with families and staff about client medical care needs and findings, coordinating care of clients with house agency staff, instruction of staff, in-servicing of house staff and childcare staff in the infant/toddler room at Holiday Center (daycare), and dealing with any other client medical/psychological problems that may arise. There were on-call duties 24/7 for at least two weeks out of every month-sometimes more.

• My job duties consisted of placing patients in exam rooms, getting brief histories, filling out pre-operative and school physical forms, performing ear lavages and EKGs, blood pressure checks, assisting with flexible sigmoidoscopies, reviewing lab data and informing patients of their results, calling in medication refills and fielding the many patient calls that come in for various reasons and problems. I assisted the doctor with whatever he may need to ensure patient care.

Provided in-home nursing care, post-hospital follow-up and assessment for homebound patients with acute and acute-on-chronic medical issues and post-op patients, particularly in the elderly, to help reduce rehospitalization. Also provided teaching to the patients and families to help with medical care, safety and independence in the home. Proficient in drawing labs and delivering to nearby lab facilities per physician orders for homebound patients. Medication compliance and teaching were very important aspects of these visits as well.

• While in nursing school, I worked as a student nurse extern/aide for pediatric patients. My job duties included feeding, bathing, patient vital signs, changing beds, and assisting the nursing staff. I then did a 12-week nurse externship on Pediatrics that mostly consisted of observing nursing care and, in some cases, assisting in care. After completing my nursing curriculum, I worked on the adult medical/surgical floor as an RN, where I gained experience in pre-op and post-op surgical care and cared for patients with acute and chronic medical care needs.
