Summary

As a creative and collaborative former educator, I am pursuing a second career in the private sector. I have a wide range of experience serving a diverse at-risk population. I have developed not only innovative methods of communicating information and assessing effectiveness, but also of addressing the emotional and practical needs of underprepared and vulnerable students. I became a leader in developing and sustaining new courses in history, literature and developmental English, as well as establishing a writing center and a student-led theatrical troupe. All of these improve the likelihood that students will achieve their goals. As an academic advisor, I built achievable pathways for each student and mentored them through to graduation. I used research, College data and experience to lead colleagues and administrators in policy and program change in the areas of academic support, curriculum development, inclusion, and active learning.
