As a medical scribe for Dr. Sita Yerramalli at Regional Cancer Care Associates Clara Maass Medical Center, I worked directly with the physician to document patient visits and treatment plans using OncoEMR. I followed Dr. Yerramalli during clinical consultations, updating the EMR in real time to ensure accurate and timely charting of patient histories, physical exams, and oncology care plans. This role required attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of medical terminology to support efficient and coordinated cancer care.
I collaborated closely with members of the research team and engaged in extensive scientific literature review to develop an experimental setup for my project. I performed experiments, collected and analyzed data, and consistently reported my findings to both my mentor and the principal investigator of the lab. Additionally, I regularly attended and participated in lab meetings, where I also presented updates on my work. As a culmination of my efforts, I presented a research poster on Baculovirus-mediated Production of Viral Vectors at the Rutgers University 2023 Aresty Research Symposium.
I tutored students between the ages of 4 and 10 in core reading, writing, and mathematics skills using Kumon’s structured worksheets. In this role, I worked collaboratively with fellow teaching assistants, the center’s director, and the students’ parents to ensure each child’s educational needs were effectively met. I regularly reported student progress to the director and manager and maintained open communication with both students and their families to support academic growth and engagement.
