Volunteer

  • I volunteered my time (through 8th to 10th grade) for my church community at St. Matthew's crocheting washcloths. I would bring the washcloths to the church and they would distribute them.
  • During this time I also volunteered to provide childcare during Sunday masses
  • I would watch over the children of all the mass attending families at St. Gabriel's with one other teenage volunteer and 1-2 adults
  • While working with kids I had to meet them at their level of understanding and find new ways to phrase things to ensure that I was making sense to them

  • I play alto saxophone in marching band
  • I was leader of my section at my old school (Charlotte Catholic High School)
  • I worked with incoming freshmen and eighth graders and helped them get used to marching band
  • I was responsible for their music, dot sheets, tardiness and preparedness for all marching band activities
  • While in marching band I've had to develop time management skills in order to be able to participate in band activities and keep up with schoolwork
  • Marching band has given me a lot of experience with teamwork and dealing with problems on the go
