Foreman's responsibility is to act as the Forest Service supervisor for this crew, scout for necessary work, make decisions regarding work priorities, ensure high-quality work, coordinate logistics of the crew's backcountry camp, ensure crew safety, and take part in managing crew dynamics.
Foreman also works closely with the Forest Service Pack Stock Crew to ensure the crew is supplied/resupplied weekly with all necessary camp gear and food.
Foreman coordinates with the CCC Backcountry Supervisor, making sure these parties have the information needed to provide the crew with supplemental direction on the worksite.
DUTIES include supervisory duties, preparing tools and gear, scouting camp locations, maintaining backcountry camp, developing operating plans, training crews, and ensuring safety.
