Transitioning from data analytics and project management to healthcare, I am a committed ABSN Nursing student at the University of Pennsylvania. My experience in multiple industries has equipped me with unique insights invaluable in interpreting patient information. Before nursing, my senior analyst role involved analyzing and visualizing data, a skill I now apply to patient care.
My journey to healthcare was deeply personal. Having spent significant time as a critical hospital patient in my teenage to young adult years, I gained firsthand experience of the importance of empathetic care and the challenges of being a patient. This profound understanding informs my approach to patient care, fostering an empathetic perspective that uniquely complements my analytical background.
Despite the shift from data to care, my commitment to helping others and making genuine connections remains the same. By combining my analytical skills and clinical experiences, I aim to deliver superior patient care while fostering a nurturing environment. The goal is to merge data-driven decision-making and clinical competency with patient care, elevating healthcare outcomes.
Currently, I am advancing towards my ABSN at the University of Pennsylvania, with completed rotations at Penn Presbyterian's CUPP 3 South Cardiac med/surg Unit and CUPP 4 East Trauma/Ortho unit, as well as a Behavioral Health rotation at Belmont Behavioral Health system. This hands-on experience has refined my clinical skills, deepened my understanding of patient care, and created an interest in gerontological acute care, emphasizing cardiology as a specialty. Acknowledged for my academic dedication, I was offered a tutoring role at UPenn during my final senior semester. I am also a cohort representative for the UPenn ABSN class of 2023, which is a testament to my commitment to human connection and leadership in nursing.
Although I am not yet a registered nurse, I am steadfast in my pursuit, confident that my blend of experiences and empathy will greatly benefit my patients. In the future, I hope to obtain an advanced degree in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care and eventually move on to influence healthcare policy change in the United States. I am very passionate about being a changemaker and leaving a place better than I found it, so I plan to bring that same energy to healthcare reform.
