As a young healthcare professional, compassion for others and ardor for the science of medicine inspire my career aspirations. After completing high school at a health sciences vocational school, I took a gap year before college to focus on improving my patient care skills. During my tenure at Atlantic Health as an EMT I delivered efficient care during medical emergencies, working hand in hand with paramedics, police officers, and RN-EMTs to ensure the best care possible. Committed to giving back to my community, I spent my weekends volunteering at local agencies. At the Cranford squad I took a direct role in educating future EMTs, running complicated scenarios to grow their knowledge. New Providence Rescue squad afforded me the opportunity to teach a local senior community about hands-only CPR and common emergencies in the senior population. Studying Physiology at the University of Scranton is the next step in my educational journey, preparing myself for physician's assistant school. The Jesuit education provides me with a diverse and empathetic worldview.
In honor of the Gary Letizia Memorial Blood Drive, I received this award for lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Working with an incredible team at Cranford First Aid Squad, I led them in CPR efforts that culminated in return of spontaneous circulation in our patient.
