• Facilitated start-up and commissioning activities for utility systems at $300M greenfield corn and peas processing plant.

• Provided detailed site wide utility system assessments and energy saving opportunities (steam use minimization, biogas integration, boiler management etc.) for several clients

• Coordinated operation & optimization of Joliet Refinery utilities units, including water treating systems, cooling water, boilers / cogeneration units and steam system, gas turbine generators and power system, fuel gas and flare system and ore. Performed routine unit monitoring, troubleshooting, data analysis, and environmental calculations. Managed $16M/year budget.
• Identified / presented opportunities to improve performance, reliability, reduce risk, or reduce costs and followed through from design to execution / implementation. JORF ranked 1st in U.S. on the Energy Intensity Index (EII).
• Implemented dynamic controls across multiple units to reduce operating costs - $2M/year savings.
• Led unit to best-ever steam system lost opportunity performance in history by training and coaching process operators, implementing advanced controls, and delivering quality recommendations to team - $1M/year savings.
• Completed several unit major turnarounds ahead of schedule- created inspection plans, performed vessel entry / equipment assessments, designed / executed temporary systems. Supported unit to incident free shutdown / start up.

• Led scoping studies and engineered design specifications of utility systems, presented case selection to key stakeholders. Assessed facilities, identified technology and configuration options and coordinated with vendors for projects up to $1B+
• Created PFDs, P&IDs , plot plans, calculated steam and water balances, sized lines, specified headers and interconnecting lines, integrating new facilities with existing systems.
• Developed economic analysis of capital and operating costs, developed steam risk statistical modeling tools, and discovered optimization opportunities for capital spending, operating expenses, and risk reduction totaling $500k+/year.
• Oversaw EPC contractor FEED and detailed engineering for $600M chemical plant project.
