
Taught Ancient Civilizations to sixth grade students. Designed and presented fascinating lessons, which captured students' attention and imagination. Performed regular duties of attendance, supervision, discipline, and individual assessment. Administered formal and informal assessment methods, revising lessons and providing one-on-one support as necessary. Started each lesson with an "Explore" activity, where the students experienced the topic hands-on and were provided with concrete examples. Brought an interdisciplinary approach to the classroom to sufficiently cover all core subjects. Used multiple instructional strategies aligned with the learning objectives. Encouraged high order thinking, and meaningful student engagement. Provided plenty of praise and positive reinforcement to boost students' self-confidence and self-esteem, keeping them motivated in their academic pursuits. Collaborated with colleagues to share best practices, allocate resources, and resolve lingering issues. Improved school spirit and boosted staff morale. Utilized a variety of manipulatives including literature, creative writing, movies, music, and fine arts to encourage student learning and raise class participation. Maintained constant communication with students' parents to keep them informed of their child's academic progress, resolve behavioral problems, and promote further participation within the school community. Provided clear and consistent directions to keep the class focused and on-task. Utilized behavior modification strategies, established a reward system, and set clear guidelines to achieve a well-disciplined and motivated learning environment. Provided direct instruction for one grade level and introduced an engaging activity for the other grade level to successfully teach two different levels at the same time. Created and supplemented questions, activities, and assessments to finish off an incomplete reading program, "Read 180". Introduced a reading strategy, "Talk to the Text", as well as writing strategies to the rest of the campus to aid in students' success on the TAKS test. Dramatically increased reading levels. Assisted students who had arrived at the campus with failing grades; they left the school within three months with passing grades. Participated as a member of the San Elizario Independent School District Reading Cadre; helped select books of the month and implemented strategies.
