Anthony Acevedo

Dynamic and accomplished pianist with extensive experience in teaching and performance. As a former member of the Florida Symphonic Youth Orchestras, I showcased improvisation and music theory skills, earning a nomination for best jazz act in Orlando. I am a music education student at Florida State University, and I am very passionate about being able to teach what I love.

• Florida Symphonic Youth Orchestras (FSYO), (8/2022-5/2024)

 Member of a small group of carefully selected musicians from around the state of Florida, to provide entertainment to the community by performing big band jazz repertoire, along with improvised solos. This group was nominated for best jazz act in Orlando and has performed at events such as the 3rd annual Downtown Orlando Jazz festival, opening for Randy Brecker, and events such as the regional Essentially Ellington Festival. This group has performed at locations such as The Blue Bamboo Center For The Arts, and a recent tour of Italy, along with a tour of Atlanta, Indiana, Illinois, and Georgia and Nashville taking place in the summer of 2024.

• National Blue Ribbon Award Recipient, (12/2022)

As a former student at Hagerty High School, we were selected as one of the three most talented band programs in the United States in the year 2022. Specifically, the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble 1, and Marching Band, all submitting records to win this award.

• Essentially Ellington Festival with FSYO (2/2023),(2/2024)

FSYO qualified for two consecutive years to be a participant of the regional Essentially Ellington Festival, taking place annually at the Dr. Philips Center for the Arts. Selected as one of the top 15 jazz ensembles in the state of Florida, the Essentially Ellington Festival sends 2-3 ensembles from this event to attend the competition in New York City, where some of the best ensembles around the nation compete for cash prizes for their programs.
