Performs routine solid waste and recycling collection and disposal of residential, industrial, and commercial routes, including cleaning waste around bins and the truck, running the compactor to pack loads to the appropriate weight, and retrieving containers from the hopper and replacing them in the assigned area. Drives commercial sanitation vehicles on assigned routes and to points, scales, and transfer sites. Operates a variety of solid waste vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe and accurate manner. Inspects and reviews the condition of sanitation vehicles and equipment before and after routes. Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment, including checking oil and water levels. E-waste and mattress retrieval and disposal, including the pickup and disposal of other materials as assigned. Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner. Responds to complaints and answers questions from the public or escalates to the crew leader or supervisor as necessary.
