Ships Assigned:

  • USNS Concord, USS Emory S. Land, USNS Bridge, USNS Amelia Earhart, USNS Salvor, USNS Wally Schirra, USNS Guadalupe

Duties:

  • Conduct daily watch-to-watch inventories
  • Verify status of all communication circuits
  • Set up Land/Launch, Fleet Tac, Navy Red, SATHICOM communication circuits
  • Conduct COMMCHECK on Fleet Tac and Navy Red circuits with various ships when conducting supply or refueling replenishment operations (RAS)
  • Process / transmit various naval messages utilizing state-of-the-art worldwide communications such as C2OIX web portal, CUDIXS/NAVMACS II and Microsoft Outlook
  • Daily submission of C4I reports (status message for CBSP to maintain connectivity) to shore side Gateway Controllers (eg: Wahiawa, Fort Buckner)
  • Day to day handling of CMS material, and loading of crypto keymat
  • Perform destruction of expired or superseded keymat, filling out proper documents (SF-153) to be sent to shore side manager
  • Perform periodic maintenance on Communications equipment as required per SAMMS
  • Set up profiles in the DMDS program to ensure proper routing of message traffic on ship
  • Maintain ships DTS (Direct To Sailor) system (TV)
  • Changing of receiver frequencies as required (eg: ship leaving footprint of DTS service).
