  • Once I completed DEPOT I was assigned to Sector San Diego while I completed my monthly reserve military drill responsibilities.
  • March 4th of this year I completed Storekeeper A School in Petaluma, California. Where I received my E4 Petty Officer 3rd Class promotion.
  • After returning from SK A School I have conducted on the job trainings required for the Storekeeper shop.
  • In this role I will be responsible to conduct purchasing and procurement duties.
  • Maintain Active Duty Reserve deployment readiness.

Police Officer II

San Diego Police Department
San Diego, United States
07.2020 - 07.2023
  • As a San Diego Police Officer Il, I have been assigned to the Mid-City division located in the heart of San Diego for 2 years and 6 months
  • It's a change of pace from my prior service working for the Department of Homeland Security as a federal officer for 3 1/2 years
  • Leaving that agency was something that didn't come lightly, but I brought with me a world of experience and knowledge from the federal branch
  • I started with the San Diego Police Department in July 2020 and began the (2) month journey into phase training where I learned the policies and procedures and the on-the-job training under the leadership of a Field Training Officer
  • I successfully completed my training and went officially in service in September of 2020
  • The position as a police officer has its similarities as a federal officer with the biggest difference being state and local laws I enforce
  • Daily routine patrol consists of proactive enforcement which leads to investigating calls for service to see if the elements of crimes are present
  • If an incident is determined that a crime has occurred, is occurring or will occur I have ethical obligation to bring the incident to law enforcement conclusion and that disposition is only reached after conducting an investigation, evidence collection, documenting statements from witnesses, reviewing photographs or surveillance footage and writing all this information into a formal documented report
  • In my short period of time, I have successfully recovered 34 stolen vehicles with 12 being occupied which led to several arrests awarding me with a "10851 Award” on two separate occasions from the California Highway Patrol
  • Additionally, I received a supervisor’s accommodation for the apprehension and arrest of an individual who committed a series of vehicle burglaries, grand thefts and identity thefts in October of 2021
  • This accommodation opened an opportunity for me to take on a role as an acting Detective for several months
  • It was here that I was assigned cases where I investigated the alleged crimes, interviewed witnesses, collected evidence, reviewed surveillance cameras, conducted follow-ups, surveilled target addresses, reviewed photographs and prepared said cases in a submittal to the City Attorney and District Attorney’s office for prosecution
  • Back on patrol on several occasions I was able to further develop my skills with generating an operations plan by writing up the mission, which included conducting a work up on the target location and the suspected occupants, writing up the search warrant, setting up the contact team, having the contingencies identified and utilizing internal business partners (i.e SWAT – Special Weapons and Tactics, CST – Crime Suppression Team) to collectively reach the goal while maintaining Officer safety and still getting to the desired disposition
  • I then spent several months with our Traffic Division where I developed skills in identifying impaired drivers by recognizing signs and symptoms after putting these drivers through a series of field sobriety tests
  • This led to over 35 DUI (Driving Under the Influence) arrests made by me and over 300 collectively as a unit in those short months
  • As a Police Officer, I perform a duty from an oath I swore to which is to serve and protect the citizens within the community I call home
  • Part of my work involves working with specialized units within my department and with outer agencies on various operations
  • My focuses daily are to conduct proactive enforcement in the City Heights area as a means to prevent crimes before it happens.

CBP Officer / CBIT

Customs and Border Protection
San Ysidro, United States
01.2017 - 06.2020
  • As a CBP Officer on the Southern Border, the change in environment from my previous 10-year career in construction management was completely something new and different but has offered a wealth of experience and knowledge
  • I familiarized myself quickly with the enforceable laws and common trends for concealment methods of contraband and received priceless training on the part of Customs and Immigration
  • At the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, I gained priceless training in Customs and Immigration
  • I administered admissibility interviews, inspections, conducted queries, and translated charges and convictions in accordance to the United States; determining whether the traveler would be processed as an NTA (Notice to Appear), be formally removed from the United States, or be permitted entry from Mexico
  • After completing my Post Academy Training at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, I was further trained in administering and conducting interviews, processing Expedited Removals cases and Unexecuted Expedited Removals cases in our Admissibility Enforcement Unit (AEU) before transferring to the San Ysidro Port of Entry
  • I made the transfer to the San Ysidro Port of Entry after completing my post academy training in early 2018
  • The change in environment was different, but the job was the same with my previous experience from the Otay Mesa Port of Entry
  • In vehicle primary I interdicted several alien smugglers and drug smugglers as well as violators of other known customs and immigration laws
  • Additionally, in secondary Inspection areas, I administered sworn statements and processing Notice to Appear (NTA) cases on Lawful Permanent Resident was a common thing, besides conducting Expedited Removals (ER), verifying ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization), and SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) applicants upon arrival from foreign countries
  • The faster pace environment helped me become more proficient of current systems; along with the use of our local law enforcement agencies
  • During my time here I have become more proficient in the use of various databases and systems such as: VPC, CIS, CLAIMS, EARM, SIGMA, PCQS, CSIS TECS, CCDI, ATS-L, US-VISIT, US-ARRIVAL, IAFIS, SEACATS, and ENFORCE/IDENT
  • In late 2018 to early 2019, I was assigned to the Mobile Field Force Team attached to the Special Response Team (SRT) for Operation Secure the Line
  • Which consisted of U.S
  • Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operation Officers from all over the nation utilizing training and tactics to protect the port of entry from foreign nationals making illegal entry into the United States
  • As an officer in passenger processing, I perform Primary and Secondary inspections of individuals and conveyances pertaining to United States Immigration and Custom laws
  • I also enforce a wide range of laws including state and local laws, as well as regulations from multiple Federal Agencies (FDA, USDA, USFW, etc.)
  • Part of my work involves compliance and regulatory work and I collect, develop and evaluate facts, evidence and pertinent data in assessing compliance with or violations of laws, rules or regulations
  • I determine the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States, prevent the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband
  • On a daily basis, I apply laws and rules associated with criminal or civil procedures, searches, seizures, arrests and rules of evidence
  • In May 2019 I was assigned to a 120-day temporary duty with the Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team
  • Which consisted of U.S
  • Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operation Officers working along with Border patrol Agents, Local, and State Law Enforcement Officials searching for Contraband leaving the United states; Intercepting illicit currencies, ammunition, guns, and stolen vehicles
  • During this temporary duty, I conducted several operations with the Regional Auto Theft Task Force (R.A.T.T) and the California Highway Patrol Foreign Export Auto Recovery Team (F.E.A.R) with an objective to interdict reported and unreported stolen vehicles prior to departing the country
  • More recently I was personally selected to be a part of the Commercial Bus Interdiction Team, responsible for interdicting narcotics being smuggled through the Port of Entry by commercial bus carriers
  • Investigating bus operators, buses, business addresses, known associates, and known smuggling trends by DTO’s utilizing commercial buses.
