Greetings,
As an active Deputy Sheriff Officer for Palm Beach County, I am seeking this profound opportunity to open future career prospects for growth within this agency.
I am an organized and dependable candidate successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude. I am an accomplished Correctional Officer offering seven years plus of experience managing detainees and working within a correctional facility where officer safety is my greatest importance. My seven years of knowledge is shared amongst my three years at the state and four years at the county. I can proudly say I have worked in numerous areas while in this field such as Transport, Hospital Details, Bookkeeping, Special Teams, Event Planner, Overseer for Non-profits, Administration, Security, and Specialty Units. As a focused and detail-oriented Deputy Sheriff, my experience enables me to manage all security risks. My time at Department of Corrections I had the opportunity and was handpicked for a two-week academy at Tallahassee, FL to acquire the skillset to deescalate physical and verbal conflicts. Upon completion, I became a State Certified Hostage Negotiator and was assigned as Team Leader for the Crisis Negotiation Team. With this training I carried it alongside me into Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office where I continue to practice and uphold Florida statute covering care, custody, and control.
If selected, I plan on continuing the mindset and preparing for any and all opportunities presented. Not only do I want to take advantage of the supervisory route but would like to be considered in working towards Road Patrol. They say the best road patrol officers come from Corrections. I would also like to expand into a special operations division.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to express my interest in joining Martin County Sheriff's Office. I look forward to proving and displaying how much of an asset I will be for this prestigious agency.
As a Deputy Sheriff for the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office I'm assigned to the Corrections Division (Security) where it is my fiduciary responsibility to supervise and manage Inmates in custody. By following a set of procedures and regulations I am capable of maintaining not only my personal safety but as well as my fellow officers and the inmates themselves, who I oversee. As security within the Detention Facility I must also make sure the inmates also follow a set of procedures that have been set for them within the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) within or outside the facility. It is my job to correct inmates whom fall out of line and go against these rules that PBSO has provided for them, discipline may vary. Due to conducting frequent security checks of the property and inmates throughout the day we are able to prevent emergencies such as and not limited to disturbances, assaults, and escapes.
The Okeechobee Correctional Institution is a state prison for adult men which is owned and operated by the Florida Department of Corrections. As a correctional officer at this institution it was my responsibility to supervise and manage Close, Medium, Minimum, and Community custody inmates who have been arrested and have been sentenced to serve time. As security within the institution I also made sure the inmates also follow a set of procedures that have been set for them within the Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC). Correctional officers must maintain a controlled environment using a routine operation within the detention facility on a day to day basis; a team effort is needed in order to do so. I was also given the opportunity to work alongside with transport and escorted Inmates to and from Hospitals, Outpatient medical appointments, and other Correctional Facilities within the State of Florida. As a secondary duty, I am currently working as the bookkeeping/cashier position in EBTF (Employee Benefit Trust Fund) for Okeechobee Correctional Institution. EBTF being a non-profit, I am in charge of collection of cash from 3 canteen locations, preparation of bank deposits, checks for signature, records retention for post audit, and posting cash receipts and disbursements monthly. I was also recommended and sent by the Warden to a Special Team Academy to become certified and join Florida DOC Crisis Negotiation Team in Tallahassee Florida. At this academy a 2-week (80 Hour) course was completed an passed to which I became a Hostage Negotiator.
To begin with, I opened 3 different concepts at 7AM and closed them at 5, 7, and 10PM. Throughout the day I rotated at each concept selling merchandise that each concept obtains. One concept, the marketplace, contains a large variety of gift shop items that range from chips, beverages, Florida Lottery, and State of Florida merchandise. The second concept is a sun glass hut where I sold UV protected sun glasses and accessories to our guests. Finally the third concept is a citrus stand that contained a hand-crafted beverages and several different fruits that is purchased local from different vendors. A criteria must be met at each of the concepts. It is my job to make sure each guest leaves with a memorable experience at our Florida Turnpike plaza with or without a purchase. If not on the selling floor I'm required to unload deliveries that contain pallets of merchandise for the concepts that we receive on a daily basis.
Here at Pier 1 Imports, as a Sales associate, I was required to make sure each customer was greeted and introduced to something new in our store. We made sure each guest felt comfortable with there products they were purchasing, if any. Made sure that everything was and updated accord to store layouts. All furniture, area rugs, etc had to match accordingly and be presented neatly for our customers. Was also in charge of ordering and unloading trucks and building any furniture that needed assembly. It was my responsibility to make sure all incoming products that were damaged during the process of delivery and/or making of the merchandise had to be accounted for, per inventory.
