  • Mentored new firefighters in developing essential skills and understanding departmental expectations for performance excellence.
  • Responded to emergency medical calls to perform lifesaving procedures and other emergency medical services.
  • Worked in the Coney Island Beach area where we trained extensively in protecting the public during various ocean rescues/emergencies. Was involved in many actual water rescues of both civilians and animals during my years of service. Was responsible for supervision and maintenance of various types of water rescue equipment. Operated and trained firefighters in regard to the proper use of Handie- Talkie communications specific to water rescue operations.
  • Conducted periodic firefighter written performance evaluations and completed written recommendations on probationary firefighters.
  • Directed work of countless firefighters engaged in extinguishing fires.
  • Facilitated interdepartmental training exercises that fostered teamwork between firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement officers on scene management techniques.
  • Supervised cleaning and maintenance of buildings, rooms and equipment.
  • Was a firefighter from 1994 til 2003 where I took great pride in protecting the public under the tutelage of FDNY supervisors. Including responding to the attack on the WTC on 9/11/2001.
  • Began my supervisory career in 2003 and served as an FDNY lieutenant for ten years, honing my skills as a leader and emergency response supervisor.
  • Held the Captain's title from 2013 until my retirement on 2023 where I proudly developed into a seasoned and respected leader in all types of emergency responses.

* During my time as FDNY an supervisor I supervised and performed countless CPR rescue attempts including numerous successful resuscitations. Also worked in conjunction with NYC Parks Dept during water rescue emergencies and coordinated plans and efforts during emergencies with them.

* Have great experience dealing with large crowds/gatherings and effectively dealing with difficult people. Also, have great experience in dealing with people in regard to explaining and enforcing laws and regulations and assisting them with directions and helping with their whereabouts if they are in need of assistance.

Coaching

Have coached various baseball and ice hockey teams since 1990. Was an assistant baseball coach at Kingsborough Community College in 1990/91 and Xaverian High School in 1993/94. Have also been an assistant ice hockey coach for the Woodbridge Wolfpack Ice Hockey Association from 2018 to present. Have also managed various recreational baseball and softball team over the years. I get a great degree of satisfaction teaching young people these great games and keeping them involved in sports and recreation.
