- Performs set-up, adjustment, and operation of precision grinding machines to produce parts with interrelated dimensions and high-precision diameters.
- Grinds internal and external surfaces to close tolerances, specializing in reconditioning and sharpening cutters, drills, and specialty tooling.
- Plans grinding sequences and selects appropriate speeds, feeds, and wheels for diverse materials including carbide and high-speed steel.
- Studies and works from part drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Utilizes a full range of measuring instruments (micrometers, comparators, gauges) to verify work accuracy and maintain quality standards.
- Identifies process issues early to reduce scrap and provides technical support to the grinding department as needed.
