Classes over the years with certificates-

TDC 3000 schooling in house at Smurfit Stone Container

LCN , Data Highway, Highway traffic director, Multifunction Controller, Basic Controller, C200 controller, Supervisory and I/O control net . History Module training and configuration.

U.S. Station and Peripheral training.

Fisher Valves and positioner training from Emerson. 3095 Multivariable training from Emerson. OHmart vega radar, puls and flex training. ABB Magnetic Flowmeter training and conversion from old taylor 1100 magnetic flows to ABB Magmaster. Tuning classes on single loop controllers and DCS systems. Boiler control theory and implementation ( I worked 18 years in the power area of a paper mill, anything from minimum air flow permissive, to feedwater steam flow matching, to O2 trim and Opacity. Ohmart Vega Fibertrac 31 nuclear level training. Bently Nevada vibration training on 3300 and 3500 systems.

Just as a note from ohming out loops, running tubing, changing positioners from Fisher to Masoneilan, PMV, Valtec, to chopper valves, i enjoy valve repair. When I started as an instrument tech, we rebuilt valves. i have hours of bead blasting valve trim and packing valves, putting on new positioners. On outages i would go around with a small oxy acetylene set up, heat packing followers to remove packing studs on bonnet. We also rebuilt 12 inch fisher whisper trim valves in place because they were welded inline. we had allot of single loop controllers that we worked on. From taylor 1300 series controllers to foxboro and moore 352 controllers. Our instrument shop did the hardware on our DCS system at Smurfit Stone container. I used to make up RG6 cable connectors, 75 ohm for our TDC 2000 and 3000 system. The Paper MIll went thru TDC 2000 TDC 3000 Plantscape and Experion. WE took care of the hardware and I/O at the facility. Magneteic Flowermeters, Taylor 1100, Foxboro E-96, IMT 25, IMT 96, Foxboro 8000, Rosemount 8711, 8712.

Pneumatics Foxboro model 11 and model 13 transmitters. Tubing and checking for leaks. Valves and positioners. Solenoids for chopper valves and checking piston valves for bad piston seals and proper stroke.

From working on SIS sytems to digital transmitters to displacer's with DLC 3010, 3100 electronic heads, ohmart vega radars and doing false signal suppression. Nuclear levels on gen 2000 Ohmart and Fibertrac 31 vega.

Troubleshooting ground loops, working on Bently Nevada 3500 systems, cable issues and doing an average scale factor test with a micrometer, an Instrument techs job has lots of variety that i enjoy. I enjoy working at a Refinery.

Safety is always NUMBER ONE . I have been to many safety training Meetings. From T A K E two for safety( talk action knowledge equipment) To hours of different topics. Number ONE is going home like i came. Eyes on task, Mind on task, Rushing, Frustration, Fatigue , Complacency, all things to think about everyday.
