In a 32-year coaching career in basketball, I have honed a multifaceted skill set that has molded me into a versatile professional in the realms of athletics and college academics. My progressing from high school to coaching at Community College, Div I/Div II colleges and prestigious HBCUs. In this journey, I have become proficient in communication, organization, and conflict resolution, I have mentored over 100 players recognized for academic excellence and coached 60 All-Conference Players, with many transitioning to playing professional or coaching careers. As the National Scouting Director for HBCU ALL-STARS LLC, I oversee "The HBCU All-Star Game," this prestigious event serves as a platform to spotlight the top HBCU men's basketball student-athletes, providing them and their coaches with the well-deserved exposure on a national stage.
In my role as Athletic Academic Advisor at Miles College, I guide student-athletes towards academic and career success. With a rich background as a top assistant coach, recruiting coordinator, head girls' basketball coach, assistant football coach, and athletic director, I gained experience counseling students through the college process, while gaining expertise in recruiting, team management, academic advising, budgeting, and player development. My knowledge of NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA guidelines, my leadership and coaching prowess propel student-athletes toward excellence. My passion, coupled with the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and dedication to their success, have established me, as a respected and trusted figure in the world of athletics and beyond.
Responsible for overseeing the organization and coordination of “The HBCU All-Star Game.” multifaceted, involving communication with CBS, coaches and athletes, providing guidance and support to athletes, as well as fostering leadership development among scouts. This prestigious event serves as a platform to showcase the top HBCU men’s basketball student-athletes from the Division I and II MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, and SIAC conferences providing them and their coaches with well-deserved exposure and recognition on a national platform.
Assist student-athletes in navigating their academic and career goals. I work diligently to prepare them for life beyond college, ensuring they succeed both on and off the court. Through screening tests, interviews, and discussions about academic and career goals, we assess their strengths and readiness. While considering factors such as their sport's season, expected travel, and missed class time. Also guide them in preparation for their career beyond college.
