VHC maintains a magnet status nursing program and is ranked one of the top community hospitals in the United States year over year.
  • Serve as the senior executive responsible for aligning and implementing business development, philanthropy, marketing, media and government relations initiatives to drive enterprise growth strategies to meet market share goals in the region
  • Develop philanthropic strategies that align with enterprise wide growth plans and raise at least 10% of the annual capital budget year over year from grateful patient families, corporate, foundation, federal and state grant sources
  • Work with VHC service line leaders and clinicians to leverage gratitude set goals and achieve KPI’s in philanthropic growth

In 2008 the Inova CEO and Board committed to transforming the regionally acclaimed community health system into a leader in the translation of genomic sciences research into bedside therapeutic solutions for patients worldwide.
  • Remade the existing fundraising model from high-volume, low sum transactional gifts to a relationship development and stewardship model that would cultivate major and transformational gifts in support of the strategic plan of the health system
  • Grew the philanthropic revenue from $10 million to over $50 million+ annually
  • Developed a strategic communications platform that aligned messaging to each key stakeholder group across the five hospital system
  • Leveraged Community Affairs programs to serve the changing population health needs of the region
  • Re-tooled foundation staff and budget from a 40 FTE, $8 million operating budget that raised $12 million in 2011 to a high functioning team of 38 FTE with a $9.2 million budget that raised over $50 million in 2018
  • Completed a projected ten-year plan to grow system wide philanthropy into a $50 million+ annually sustainable revenue stream two years ahead of plan
  • With the support of the CEO, served as a cultural change agent: we evangelized the importance of philanthropy as a strategic component of Inova’s future
  • Developed and implemented the Inova Philanthropy Champions program, recruiting and enlisting over 250 doctors, nurses and allied health professionals across the system
