- As a PGY-1 internal medicine resident, my responsibilities included conducting patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and managing acute and chronic medical conditions under supervision. Through that first year, I also took advantage of interesting cases that either my colleagues or I managed and authored case presentations for publication. Two of these being the main author and participating in several others as a second author. As I became a PGY-2 Resident, my duties and evolved to take more ownership over the treatment of patients, as well as guiding the new PGY-1 interns around the intricacies of the residency program. As I enter my last year in residency, now as a PGY-3, my focus will lie in honing the rough edges and fixing the small details surrounding the job of the hospitalist, studying for my board exams, and leading the new generation of residents and students that enter the program/rotations.
