Work History

Graduate Researcher

University of Miami
Miami
08.2019 - 11.2025
  • Synthesized and characterized supramolecular hosts (Octa acid, Cucurbiturils) and organic compounds for photochemical studies.
  • Developed a proof-of-principle model for sustainable solar energy storage in water, achieving 90% photochemical conversion of norbornadiene (NBD) to its high-energy quadricyclane (QC) isomer using an innovative self-sensitizing supramolecular capsule.
  • Engineered a complete and sustainable cycle by demonstrating quantitative (100%) energy release from the QC isomer, triggered by visible light photosensitization with methylene blue.
  • Developed a supramolecular confinement strategy to manipulate and control the complex monomer-dimer equilibrium of o-nitrosocumene species in aqueous solutions, enabling the selective sequestration and stabilization of the reactive monomer.
  • Designed experimental strategies for co-encapsulation of distinct molecules and monitored host-guest dynamics in situ using advanced NMR spectroscopy.
  • Co-authored 2 peer-reviewed papers, 1 manuscript submitted for review and 3 manuscripts in preparation; and delivered talks and presentations at ACS Spring 2025 & I-APS 2025.

Undergraduate Researcher

IISER Pune
Pune
08.2013 - 05.2018
  • Synthesized and characterized a series of novel L-aspartic acid-based amphiphilic polyesters (Mn up to 18,000 g/mol) via solvent-free melt polycondensation.
  • Engineered these polymers into stable, enzyme-responsive nanoparticles (<200 nm) for the co-encapsulation of anticancer drugs (Curcumin, Doxorubicin) and fluorophores (Nile red).
  • Amphiphilic cationic polyester nanoparticles were synthesized and demonstrated effective doxorubicin encapsulation, exhibiting high cellular uptake in cancer cells and low cytotoxicity.
  • A novel theranostic FRET probe was developed for intracellular bioimaging, demonstrating over 85% energy transfer efficiency.
  • Drug-loaded nanoparticles effectively killed breast cancer cells (>90% cytotoxicity) and were confirmed to be taken up and localized in lysosomes using confocal microscopy.
  • Developed a recyclable, COF-supported catalyst with ~16 wt% of 95% selectivity for the one-pot reduction of nitriles and nitro compounds in as little as 3 hours under mild conditions.
