  • My duties as an Education and Training Technician require me to:
  • Provide technical support and assistance in all aspects of the education department's operation.

I also use the EDS system to generate reports and to compile statistical data, which is utilized by the SOE and higher levels of management.
  • Manage the inmate leisure and law library services, which includes maintaining books and equipment in a usable and orderly manner; monitoring procurement and receipt of materials for the library, i.e. law books, research materials, subscriptions to magazines and/or newspapers; ensuring proper check-out and exchange procedures; and oversee the recruiting and training of inmate library clerks, which includes classes giving on Lexis-Nexis.
  • Maintain and coordinate the inter-loan library program with the Seagoville Public Library. This program allows inmates to get additional reading materials not offered in the institutional library.
  • Conduct the legal and leisure library runs for special housing units and pretrial jail housing.
  • Type, proofread, and edit departmental correspondence and reports for the Supervisor of Education.
  • Assist with various workshops as needed and coordinate arrangements for meetings.
  • Supervise inmate orderlies, clerks, and tutors, while maintaining accountability for all inmates assigned to the detail.

  • Monitor day to day operations of team practice, and coordinate training regimens of sprinters and long jumpers with assistant coaches for each age group from the ages of 6 thru 18.
  • Draft announcements for recruiting and registration. Schedule and monitor fundraising events.
  • Assist the Head track coach in planning, organizing, advising on and administering training regimens and programs to promote physical advancement and create good social development and team building.
  • Research and utilize a variety of motivational tactics to inspire athletes for practice sessions competitions.
  • Organize individual and team counseling sessions with athletes to discuss personal goals, nutritional strategies, training progressions, and address any potential issues with competing.
  • Coordinate registration of athletes for individual events prior to meet registration deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate with athletes and parents regarding the athletic program and individual team member progress.
  • Effectively train athletes on new techniques and rules for all of the track and field events to enhance their skills.
  • Maintain records of all the athlete's marks.
  • Assist in planning and organizing of track meets and competitions with other track team and coaches, utilizing league sanctioned guidelines and equipment.
  • Plan hours of practice and schedule/coordinate number of participants by age and gender for official track meets.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available, properly setup, and functioning.
  • Serve as a liaison between Head Track & Field Coach, track team, and other staff members.
  • Supervise large groups of participants.
  • Assist in arranging for community resources to hold events and competitions.
  • Provided psychological support to athletes in order to help them improve their self-belief, ability to lead, and willingness to undertake responsibilities as athletes and teammates.
  • Delegate responsibilities to volunteer helpers.
  • Coordinate and procure transportation and lodging for athletes. Supervise and assist in facilitation of daily practices.
  • Officiate events, manage athlete sign in, and maintain safety of youth athletes during meets.
