As the setter, I provide leadership on the court by communicating and setting up plays for my teammates to execute. I have control over our offense, and I constantly have to make quick decisions that are going to benefit the team. I also bring an extreme amount of high energy to the team, that can uplift the team's mood both on the bench and on the court.
At VBS I was in charge of 10-15 elementary aged children. I had to corral them from place to place, make sure they stayed well behaved, set a good example for them, and checked them in and out with their parents.
I was the Student of the Month in the Fine Arts Department for the month of September. My choir teacher at the time said I was "a leader and a role model", this being one of the reasons why I was granted this achievement. Throughout the entire school year, I was a leader within the soprano section; I made sure to sing out in order to support others within my section, and provide them with confidence so that they could sing out as well and contribute to the ensemble's sound.
I had to work with a team of people to help the small community of Alamosa, by pulling weeds, fixing up a garden, and doing other various yard work. Working together with various people, some of which I was not very fond of, was an obstacle I had to overcome in order to work towards our team's common goal.

- In 11th grade I received the Leonard Bernstein Musicianship Award for my outstanding musical contributions and creativity that set me apart from my peers within my school's fine arts department.
