  • Medcare orientation explained all the duties we had as an EMT-B to help and support any level of partner we had on our truck. Medcare is a emergent and non emergency EMS company that serves a decent amount of the upper valley. When on an ambulance unit check offs were always the most importantly the morning. my experience was at a high point with the different companies and environments I had worked in but my current primary and only job has really made my experience and made it more efficient. As an EMT duties were more supervised. In this emergency setting you use a lot of your skills from calming a patient to performing CPR to assisting with meds being pushed via IV or IM or orally. We drive defensly when enroute to calls and go through a driving training. We have equipment training and skill trainings. Duties are a wide variety when running emergency calls.

  • Fire EMS is a non-emergent transporting service for a large number of residential patients but also a big. inner of the valleys nursing homes that they have a contract with. Duties which each medic carried were from checking supplies were still good and checking if any supplies were used and to replace. Patient care is always number one when it came to assessing the patients that varied in age from pediatric to geriatric. Patients were always accommodated to. Duties on the mechanics of the ambulance were a big responsibility, from the AC working properly, Lights and sirens in working order, all fluids good, tires air pressure in good standing and to the doors closing correctly. Patient's were all assessed from head to toe. Vitals were taken before we transported, throughout transport and when we reached destination. Patient care was then carried on through the waiting with the patient.

  • Responsibilities for being an EMT-B included duties from checking all equipment such as airway, portable suction, IV supplies, Lifepack monitors, stretchers, and wound care. Other responsibilities included the ambulance itself from oil checks to tire pressure and working lights and sirens. Hidalgo also gave us opportunities in BLS patient care emergency and non-emergency transports with us leading each treatment while enroute to the nearest hospital/facility. We led treatments with a designated partner on several types of scenes, it being fire scenes, residential medical calls to psychiatric calls. Patients were a spectrum of ages from new born to geriatric patients. We recorded reports on tablets and software that were for billing and trending purposes.

  • Lifeline EMS is a non emergency transport service that gave ambulance needing patients the comfort of stretchers transporting to and from any appointments that had pending for further observation and treatment. Life line was one of few transport companies I worked at that had 24 hour shifts available. Lifeline's duties included ambulance check off in the beginning of shift and patient assessment and supply recording. we had less equipment but everything still had to be accounted for. Lifeline EMS has the same skills set as most non emergency transfer companies.

EMT-B

Vitalis EMS
McAllen, Texas
03.2016 - 05.2016
  • As an EMT-B for this company it was strictly non-emergency transports. We transported all ages of patients to and from doctors appointments and dialysis appointments. This company offered needed transports for patients that medically needed to be taken in an ambulance due to extremity contractures, oxygen dependent, and bed bound. We would assess and take vitals manually for our reports same as emergency calls. Vitals Included blood pressure, glucose Check, pulse rate, respiration rate, oxygen level with in the body and all patients would receive a full body assessment if any changes in baseline has occurred.
