  • Verify insurance and start pre-cert on patients who are having procedures and admits
  • I was assigned to the patient lists of GI Lab, Cath Lab, Sleep Lab, and Inpatient/Observation patients through the ER
  • I first verify the insurance and then call in for prior authorizations if needed
  • I deal with all commercial, Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid and their offspring insurance (called the Bayou Health plans), Self-pay and Indigent care (which is funded by the government)
  • As of February 2017, I have personally train all 9 of UHC Clinics on how to do prior authorizations and I am still a backup for if they have questions or need help
  • This all happen after being part of the Lean Sigma Six Event to get the process worked out for the clinics.
