April L. Panchyshyn

Family Nurse Practitioner
Columbus,North Carolina

Summary

In April 2022 I graduated with a DNP from Samford University. The reason for seeking this degree I have had some family events happen over the past few years that demonstrated some opportunities in the healthcare system. The system needs to grow in how healthcare providers interact and treat mental health patients. The system has biases that need to be evaluated to provide a more therapeutic environment for patients seeking treatment. My goal is to have a voice and hand in shaping the healthcare system of tomorrow. The first step was obtaining a DNP degree, this represents the next steppingstone in a professional journey. By choosing to obtain the DNP degree I see it as expanding professional horizons in the future to include:

· Teaching the next generation of nursing students,

· Impacting health care from a system and financial perspective,

· Expanding my knowledge base to see issues from a patient, system, financial and ethical perspective to make better decisions to effect change, and

· Providing clinical care to patients at a higher level.

Healthcare is changing at a more expeditious rate than ever before. I became a nurse practitioner to have influence in the healthcare system of tomorrow.
