Completed 10 months of clinical rotation at a level 1 trauma center hospital. I spent time in Sterile processing department where i learned how to prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, or clean all laboratory or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. Then spent the remainder of the clinical rotation in the OR as a scrub tech student where i was trained to understand and take responsibility for setting the room up for surgery, including ensuring that the instruments and setting adhere to sterile practices. In addition, clean and shave a person's skin before surgery, help the surgical team scrub in, and provide sterile instruments to the surgeon during surgery. As well as perform surgical count and collecting specimens during the surgical procedure.
Help assisting in the pharmacy department on the 2nd floor by organizing office materials; transcribing all the empty pharmaceuticals; creating labels; doing rounds to refill the pixis machines with specified medications and saline bags on the different floors in needed locations.
Help assist the nurses on the 2nd and 4th floor in patient care and organizing patient charts. Administering aroma therapy and tea services on the 2nd and 4th floor to the patients to help keep them calm and relax during their hospital stay.
