Worked several community events to educate and encourage people to Get out the Vote. Hosted our own 2022 Candidate Forum. Aided in progressive advocacy programs with affiliated groups, such as Kansas Appleseed.
This fellowship was created to train deeply engaged community leaders and advocates on developing their political skills and confidence in potentially running for office. The program is designed to develop the next generation of Democratic pro- choice candidates by facilitating the leadership of applicants from historically underserved communities.
The National Farmers Union does a different kinds of work from education to advocacy work. As an intern I prepare notes for interviews, and assist with policy development. I also help event plan for our National Convention where delegates from all over the country come to vote on what policy they want us to support.
As a fellow I specialized in deep phone banking and grassroots grassroots organizing. I also attended community centered advocacy events for extra assistance. My main focus for phone banking was calling registered voters and encourage them to vote in the Wichita City Council General Election.
At Progeny our goal is to end all youth detention centers and prisons in Kansas. As a youth leader I have assisted with making progressive policies, attended weekly meetings, and helped plan community outreach events.
Managed a campaign to expand student civic power through creating polling places on Wichita State University Campus. In this position, I created and implemented a strategic plan, organized events, and built a diverse coalition of student organizations, community stakeholders and elected officials.
For the Johnson campaign I contacted previous donors for campaign fundraising, contacted potential volunteers, did data entry in excel, scheduled campaign events, calling and texting phone banking, completed basic office duties, prepared lit, lit drops, canvassing, and prepared and delivered yard signs. I also trained new volunteers how to canvass.
Attended weekly Chamber and agenda meetings, and attended meetings with constituents. I also aided in community outreach and recruited people to ask questions for the, 'Ask the Mayor' show.
As a legislative intern my main responsibilities were to aid in researching legislation, and take notes in meetings. I attended chamber which met everyday, various committee meetings, and meetings with constituents.
