I am a Black woman, mother and sister to many in this community. I am a survivor of racial injustices and economical disparities. I have a direct connection to community service. I have experience working with children, children with disabilities, children impacted by poverty, racial injustice, survivors of or experiencing human sex trafficking, children suffering houselessness and other traumatic experiences as well as work with the elderly community both in work settings & personal life.

When speaking to transferable skills, through many years I have ventured into diverse fields and have a broad spectrum of experience. Culturally-responsive & restorative practice is what drives my consistent hunger for education and training, thus to provide for the community in which I serve. I have been in the work of both health care/medical and advocacy for 10+ years and it has become a natural part of my life. I have a Deep understanding and practice of safety planning with limited resources, including safety plans that offer options to law enforcement or systems involvement. I have Experience in budgeting, Basic financial literacy, Applying financial empowerment and budgeting skills to support survivors’ basic needs including food security, parenting, and utilities. I have successfully completed 40 hrs of DV training, MSST trained and capable of providing SSA and many informed trauma modules as well. Experience advocating with utility companies and landlords. Resource navigation, Familiar with restraining order process and barriers. Basic knowledge of survivor housing protections including the VAWA process and address protection process. Familiar with and have made contact with resources available in Portland and surrounding areas. Confident in navigating available resources alongside survivors. Provided trainings to local organizations and agencies regarding awareness. Working in alternative schools provided hands on experience with children ages 9-15 struggling with dynamic environmental & racial disparities while navigating mental health/disabilities. Crisis de-escalation skills. Strong Experience assessing safety in unknown/ new environments. Experience in verbal safety planning in crisis situations. Experience in Culturally specific service provider/ able to provide culturally specific services to Understand the significance of culturally specific services and/ or intersection of the community and DV/ST in a unique way. Working as a family partner for NAMI MULTNOMAH I worked with children as young as 5 and their families navigating home needs, outings & general behavioral care for family. I am excited to further my education in advocacy and implement trauma informed approaches to my daily schedule. To be a part of a diverse team is what I was made for. I do feel I have strong leadership abilities and values however I believe working together as a team is where the true magic happens.
