For the past five years I've been assigned to Patterson Mill High School and Middle School as the School Resource Officer. I'm responsible for the safety of students and staff while on campus. During summer break I'm responsible to update and maintain our emergency procedures. This includes evacuation plans for on and off campus. Evacuation locations are checked along with contact information to insure smooth operations in case of an emergency. During day to day operations on campus I make myself visible and accessible to students and staff. Being visible and approachable makes open lines of communication much easier. Communication and trust helps insure campus safety.
Over the past five years I've had interactions with students grade six thru twelve. Over the past four years I've maintained a Criminal Justice Club for students interested in law enforcement. This is a club which takes place after school and is on a voluntary basis. During summer months I help run the Harford County Sheriff's Office Youth Program. It's a week long overnight camp that focuses on high school students who wish to become more familiar with law enforcement.
For approximately three years I was the president of the Jarrettsville Youth Football Program. The program involved children from five to fourteen years old. This was strictly a voluntary position. I was in charge of enrollment, food concessions, coaching, and budget.
