Accomplishments

I have included several professional accomplishments in this section. I have enjoyed a few more; however, I selected these as the most representative of my career as a professional educator.

2008 National Star in Teaching, Alaska

In 2008, I was selected as Alaska's National Star in Teaching by the Secretary of Education, Margaret Spelling. This was a Presidential initiative started by President George W. Bush. I was selected to represent Alaska because I had achieved a 100% pass rate for the State assessment.

BP Teacher of Excellence

In 2011, I was selected as the British Petroleum Teacher of Excellence. I am most proud of this award because I was nominated and selected by district parents and students for recognition.

2024 MSU Cooperating Teacher of the Year

In 2024, I received recognition from Minot State University (MSU) as the cooperating teacher of the year. Each school year, I am asked to work with and host a pre-service teacher. I enjoy this very much, so I am always happy to support my profession. Working with student teachers is some of the most rewarding work I have had the pleasure to do.
