He was recognized at a December 2018 school board meeting. Chief of Security each year asked district administrators to nominate officers from the respective buildings. I was nominated that year by Principals Roshay Huff and Sonya Gordon. Huff was East's Ninth-Grade Academy Principal and Gordon served as East's principal during the 2017-18 school year. "Deputy Thompson is very visible in our school and interacts with students in a familiar and positive matter than encourages students to see him as more than law enforcement," Huff wrote in her nomination letter.
