  • Being an Engineer 3 would require me to assist guest with mechanical issues such as problems with their air conditioning, fireplace, water leaks, boiler problem’s
  • Being an Engineer 3 I would also be involved in major projects such as installation of new Boilers and soldering copper pipe from ½” to 3” and also fixed water leaks also soldering from 1/2” to 1”
  • I obtained my EPA license to be able to work with refrigerant; I have needed to replace Thermostatic expansion valves and compressors for Straight cooling systems to Heat-pumps
  • I have worked on 3 phase motors which we have on our fountain areas
  • I also assisted in the installation of state of the art Thermostats and door and wall sensors
  • This position showed me how important it is to increase your knowledge and not settle with just fixing something but to truly understand how any mechanical equipment functions, I do not know everything but I can truly say I have done every major job that can be done at this resort.

Engineer 2

  • Being an engineer 2 would require me to assist with guest issues, this would include being able to fix appliances such as dishwashers, stove ranges, over the range microwaves, refrigerators, stackable washing machine & dryers
  • Appliance issues ranged from control panel replacement, motor replacement, and infinite switch replacement
  • Electrical issues as well such as replacing light ballast, breakers and light fixtures
  • This position showed me how to speak with the guest properly and I developed a great sense of Empathy when dealing with situations that I could not resolve quickly and forced me to be more understanding towards guests needs.

Villa Care/Engineer 1

  • In the start of my Marriott career I would go into unoccupied rooms and do a preventative maintenance on the room, checking paint of the entire interior from doors to walls and baseboards, also I would check the condition of doors replacing V-tracks & wheels utilizing suction cups
  • I would also check lighting replacing light switches, outlets, lights
  • I would check plumbing as well, replacing the caulk on the toilets and counters and also wax rings on the toilets
  • I would also help in the replacement of the air filters in the entire resort
  • Though this job is considered to be a basic entry level position in the Engineering Department I believe it is crucial for anyone who wants to be a manager to have done for this position prepares you to know the rooms inside and out and how to properly maintain them.
