Gained an extensive amount of knowledge and experience in 17 years at PSNS Shop 99 GM. Additional experience includes 12 years as a Rigger/ Maintenance contractor worker at George G. Sharp Company at Naval Base Shipyard, Bremerton, WA.
Continues to lead by example and am highly motivated to learn new trades, and skills, and work with and for a highly motivated team/outstanding group of people.
As Senior Mechanic; [PIC] Person In Charge qualified, my responsibilities/duties include coordinating, scheduling, providing, and directing support jobs/assignments and other related temporary services all within job scope, with the ship's force and fellow crew members. As a qualified PIC, I ultimately have the ability and responsibility to oversee/conduct over-water fuel and oil/lube oil transfer operations, all while ensuring safety measures and mitigation protocol in the event of a potential spill/accident. During any scheduled pumping evolution, proper planning goes into effect by having all correct materials required; numerous spill kits staged in all related areas, coffer dams, drain covers, signs, tools, as well as caution tape, as directed/dictated by Instruction 5090.41. I also provide first time quality workmanship, guidance, and leadership for the project and crew I am assigned to.
Volunteered numerous times, providing off-station temporary services/support outside of my normal work environment/location for over 20 TDY assignments in Yokuska, Japan, and San Diego, California in the last 17 years.
Currently, I work as a waterborne oil spill responder and drive utility boat, skimmer, and packcat.
Consistently prepared and ready to carry out the plan of the day; responsible for assigning jobs/tasks to crew members. Meticulously reads/understands TGI and other related documents of assigned job/task, all the while maintaining safety measures and protocols for both self and crew members, to ensure proper completion of all jobs assigned. Involuntary [Stand In] Work Lead and Supervisor experience on multiple occasions. Works well with fellow mechanics, subordinates/junior crew members, and/or as an individual. Ingrains importance of effective and efficient teamwork, and leads by example; always maintaining a positive work environment and 'Can Do' attitude. Assist junior personnel/helper assistants with attaining [PIC] qualifications to further their ability to become a highly efficient and effective asset. Ultimately sets the standard for model mechanic, work lead, and future supervisor.
