Work History

Mechanical Lead for Senior Capstone Project

Suborbital Research Payload Design Project
08.2024 - Current

This is an Industry Funded and Sponsored Project to exploit the JANUS platform to reduce the complexity, timeline and cost for instrument development and technology demonstration.

  • Leading the current design and testing of the deployment system - must integrate and be able to deploy from Janus Platform; sensor suite must survive during launch.
  • Responsible for communicating and presenting read out and supporting information for CONOPS on the deployment system.
  • Responsible for anticipated Mechanical Hardware and Manufacturing Needs: such as drivetrains, housings, etc. 3D printing, CNC, etc, or the need for specialized materials.

Engineering Research Technician

Center for Infrastructure, Energy, and Space Testing
05.2024 - 08.2024

The Center for Infrastructure, Energy, and Space Testing (CIEST) https://www.colorado.edu/center/ciest/.

  • Used CIEST's 1M lb. load frame to test aircraft wing deformation performed analysis using MATLAB. The 1M lb. load frame allows for precise application of large loads, simulating real-world conditions that the wings might encounter during flight.
  • Provided Editorial Assistance to Asst. Research Professor on other Published Research Papers i.e. https://www.colorado.edu/center/ciest/2024/07/18/seismic-evaluation-hazard-resistant-lifelines-fusible-pvc-pipe-and-fittings
  • Maintained a safe and organized laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.

Hypersonics Workforce Intern

Center for National Security Initiatives
06.2023 - 08.2023

The Center for National Security Initiatives (NSI) https://www.colorado.edu/center/nsi/

Provided 3 Research papers under the Guidance of Dr. Iain D. Boyd, Director (https://www.colorado.edu/center/nsi/iain-boyd):

  • "Hypersonics Technology and it's Uses" along with a PPT highlights the importance of Hypersonics and a comparative analysis of other country's technology efforts to those of the United States, specifically regarding Russia, China, and Iran.
  • "Hypersonics Research and Vehicle Design" along with a PPT highlights the unique challenges in this field that require an advanced understanding of aerodynamics, materials science, and propulsion systems. As countries invest in hypersonics research, staying ahead in this field is crucial for maintaining global competitiveness and advancing efficient transportation solutions.
  • "Hypersonics: Studies and Learning at U.S Universities" sheds light on the current state of workforce requirements, industry trends, educational initiatives, and the implications for future workforce development. The hope here is to bridge the gap between the type of workforce needed for the hypersonic field and what is being done to prepare current students for this field at various universities across the United States.
