I am a dedicated and enthusiastic leader, researcher, and educator in the field of health sciences with more than 20 years of experience. I'm presently a doctoral student in the Health Science Education and Professional Leadership program at the University of Houston. My doctoral thesis explores clinical team communication during simulation to improve patient safety. As the Director of Clinical Education for Houston Community College's Physical Therapist Assistant program, I was able to use my collaborative and leadership skills to help a diverse student body serve a diverse patient population in the Texas Medical Center. Additionally, I have had success inspiring students, professors, and clinicians through the use of evidence-based teaching, psychological safety, and inter-professional clinical simulation. Throughout the pandemic, I was able to quickly adapt to fresh challenges in clinical education thanks to my attention to detail and strong organizational skills. In order to provide adaptive and resilient leadership that enables followers to understand issues and succeed, I aim to gain more teaching and research leadership experience.
