
Passionate graduate from The Ohio State University in Evolution, Ecology, & Organismal Biology with experience in animal care, laboratory settings, teaching, and working collaboratively with others. Focused on fish ecology and conservation, with a genuine love of nature, field work and research, and making the world a better place for our future.
Worked closely with fellow dance instructors, and helped children ages three to fourteen develop skills in the disciplines of tap, jazz, and ballet.
Teaches workshop classes in various forms of aquatic biology to students fifth grade through twelfth grade. Teaches a Lake Erie Ichthyology and fish dissection class to students on a daily basis. Teaches Gibraltar Island Ornithology, Botany, and Plankton Identification. Leads Climate Change and Geology educational walks around the island. Teaches an Aquatic Invasive Species slideshow presentation. Teaches a herpetology lesson to students, where they hold live snakes and turtles. Takes students out on a research vessel for a Limnology Science Cruise, where we learn about Lake Erie water science, and assist them in using equipment for data collection. Gives tours of the history and daily operations of Stone Lab to the general public.
Assists researchers in experiments and water sampling of Lake Erie water. Helps with various experiments testing for multiple components of Harmful Algal Blooms. Assists researchers on large research vessels to collect water samples and record weather data.
Main aquarist for large freshwater fish aquaria, used for education and outreach purposes. Performs daily checks and observations of fish well-being and behaviors. Performs daily feedings, test temperature and dissolved oxygen, and monitor water chemistry. Performs weekly water changes and cleaning of 55-gallon tanks.
Helps with public outreach events to educate the public on pressing Lake Erie issues. Designs and creates weekly science topic displays in the summer months. Gives public tours of the Put-in-Bay Lighthouse on these days. Gives animal encounters to the public, teaching them about both snakes and turtles.
Gave public tours of a historic state ran fish hatchery located on Lake Erie. Explained the fish hatching process to the general public at the museum. Assisted visitors center coordinator with fish feeding and daily care tasks.
Watched over swimmers to respond quickly to distress situations, monitored guest behaviors and enforced pool rules, and helped maintain a neat and clean pool area.
Created research study to observe and analyze predator-prey interactions between the Round Goby fish and the Lake Erie Watersnake. Daily checks were performed each day by taking measurements of temperature, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, pH, and feedings.
Managed financial affairs of activities and fundraisers for the Marine Biology club at The Ohio State University.
Performed statistical analysis and researched gaps in data collection of foraging behaviors in Mallard ducks.
