Work History

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona

Sure Program
06.2024 - 08.2024
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborated in a team of four with two members working on Project 1 (traditional text mining approach) and the other two on Project 2 (Generative AI). I worked on Project 1 where I applied text mining techniques on a dataset of 1.6 million Airbnb reviews from Los Angeles. Coordinated closely with the team for Project 2 to compare the efficiency and results of both methods.
  • Text Mining Techniques: Utilized Python libraries like NLTK, spaCy, and TextBlob for sentiment analysis, and applied Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) for topic modeling on Airbnb reviews.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzed 1.6 million Airbnb reviews from Los Angeles to extract sentiment, identify topics, and find insights based on the extracted information.
  • Comparative Analysis: Compared results from Project 1 (traditional text-mining) with those from Project 2 (GenAI). The goal was to compare the effectiveness of traditional text mining techniques versus GenAI techniques. The application of generative AI enhanced efficiency and depth of text analysis, overall, outperforming the traditional text mining approach.

Chair of Student Success

Associated Students
08.2023 - 06.2024
  • Advocated for Students: Represented student interests by voicing concerns in meetings and decision-making tasks
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Organized and executed campus events to boost student engagement and well-being on campus
  • Committee Participation: Attended safety committee meetings to inform myself and others about campus safety

Rio Hondo College

STEM Team Internship Program
02.2024 - 05.2024
  • Team Collaboration: Worked in a team of four in a ten-week micro-internship using human-centered design thinking to address CAMPOS EPC's challenge
  • Research: Analyzed CAMPOS EPC's current outreach strategies to identify improvements for engaging and attracting college students, which will then expose more people to the energy and pipeline industry.
  • Solution and Presentation: Co-developed and co-presented a solution recommending CAMPOS EPC to enhance their campus presence with eye-catching booths and detailed information on opportunities like internships and tours to better educate and engage college students in the energy and pipeline industry.

Programming Projects

Physics Object-Oriented Programming Project

Python (Fall 2023)

  • Project Objective: Developed a program to calculate the moment of inertia for three different objects with varying axes of rotation.
  • Implementation: Designed and implemented the MomentOfInertia class with three instance methods, each corresponding to a specific object. Incorporated the appropriate equations to compute the moment of inertia for each object.
  • Testing: Created unit tests to check functionality, including handling invalid inputs and outputs.
  • Course Achievement: Created and completed in an advanced Python course, showcasing an understanding of object-oriented programming principles and their application.

Purchasing a Movie Theatre Seat
C++ (Spring 2024)

  • Project Overview: Developed a program to manage movie seat reservations, allowing users to purchase seats based on price or seat number and display their choices.
  • Implementation: Utilized function prototypes, arrays, and do-while loops to handle seat selection and ticket purchasing. Implemented multiple functions to suit different user preferences for purchasing seats.
  • Learning Experience: Completed as a recent mini-project, helpful in enhancing skills in function prototypes and dynamic user interactions.

Airbnb Reviews Analysis with Text Mining (sentiment analysis, vectorization, topic modeling)

Python (Summer 2024)

  • Pre-Processing: Cleaned a dataset 1.6 million Airbnb reviews
  • Text Mining Techniques: Performed vectorization techniques (Word2Vec and GloVe), topic modeling using LDA and NMF, and conducted sentiment analysis with TextBlob and VADER.
  • Analysis: Used two different methods for each text mining technique to compare results. Utilized visuals like bar graphs and word clouds to illustrate and analyze the differences between outputs.
  • Tools: Performed the following analysis using Python in Visual Studio Code and Google Colab.
