To Whom It May Concern,
Hello, I am Ashley Gillum. I was drawn to the position of a Registered Behavior Technician after learning alongside of my daughter at the early age of 2. Kendall displayed signs of being atypical at this age, Leaving me to advocate for something I had no education or experience with, Autism. Over time I learned very helpful and mind-easing information from Kendall’s teams. Her School, Doctors, and Therapists made our world a much different, and easier place during this time of strong emotions and confusion. The years leading up to now were trialing for me due to being inexperienced. After my hardship with obtaining all of the knowledge I n have gained, I easily made the choice to be someone who could help children with all of the things that makes Autism what it is. From Speech, and Functional play, To Daily Life Skills and Navigating the world that surrounds them. During my short 5 months of being an RBT, I have learned that one of my favorite parts of this job is having the ability to build rapport with the children I’ve crossed paths with, making me a safe place for them, and To show parents that Autism isn’t the end of a dark tunnel. To remind them of the support and resources that are available, and To help them find what works best for their child whether it be in home or in school. I’ve felt confident in knowing I’m part of the help that makes a difference.
