Dedicated Educator with over 13 years of experience teaching General Music, Chorus, and Music Theatre.
As the TK-8th Music Specialist and Director of Performing Arts, I oversee all TK - 8th General Music classes, the 3rd through 5th grade Elementary Chorus, and the 6th - 8th grade Show Choir and Musical. In my classes, students develop a sincere love of music through the appreciation and participation of a successful musical experience. Students grow their knowledge of music through instrumental play and folk songs. Through curriculum based solidly around Kodaly and Orff principles, my students learn healthy vocal and instrumental techniques, grow in sight reading skills, and gain a strong appreciation for the performing arts.
As Youth Choir Director, I oversaw all music selections for Sunday worship. I directed a small choir of students ranging between the ages of 11 and 18, the majority being High School
vocalists.
Prescott Middle School hosts the Putnam County Honors Choir Festival each year. I am the head chair of this event, overseeing all aspects of this choral festival, including clinician, accompanist, venue preparation, repertoire selection, and program production.
Over the past eleven years, I have produced, directed, choreographed, and acted as music director for eleven musicals. My music theatre students performed to audiences of over 1,000. My theatre program comprised of roughly 80-100 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I oversaw all aspects of the production including fundraising, budgeting, lights, sound, advertising, props, set, and costuming.
I assisted with the Tennessee Lottery for Education Afterschool Program (LEAPS) weekly, helping students with homework and enrichment activities.
I oversaw the Prescott South Middle School Music Program, which consists of roughly 200 6th -8th graders. I also taught General Music to our 5th graders, introducing them to basic vocal and instrumental skills using Kodaly Training Methods.
As the Site Coordinator of the LEAPS program, I acted as the head of scheduling, student placement, classes and instruction, parental communication, budgeting, and transportation.
