I started as a Veterinary Assistant then later became an LVT.

• Administered medications to animals in treatment and documented changes in condition.
• Venipuncture/Cytocentesis/Urinary catheterizations
• Prepared surgical instrument packs and drapes for use in sterile environments by processing in autoclave under high pressure and high temperature conditions.
• Collected patient biopsies and blood samples/urinalysis for laboratory analysis.
• Triaged incoming patients to determine treatment needs and urgency of care.
• Established intravenous drips for ongoing hydration in treatment of canines suffering from parvovirus infections.
• Swabbed ears to remove wax and dirt, removing extra hair to allow air to circulate freely and avoid infection.
• Provided direct care to patients and implemented procedures such as radiology, critical care, and anesthesia.
• CPR for STAT, unresponsive patients.
• Educated clients on post-surgical care and nutrition.
• Recorded symptoms and documented medical observations to inform treatment decisions.

A 'high tech', technology based, wellness care setting where LVT's "ran the show" and DVM's connected with staff and clients, virtually through a site, 'Teams'.

• LVT's provided full physical examinations for every patient, relaying anything of importance to doctor.
• Answered owner animal health questions and advised on best care practices.
• Carefully clipped nails and trimmed hair around pads and paws, using gentle approach for anxious pets.
• Collected patient biopsies and blood samples for laboratory analysis send outs to Antech.
• Greeted pet owners and went over available services, outlined costs and determined special needs of animals under care.
• Assessed paws, ears and eyes for injuries or infections as part of initial evaluation.
• Swabbed ears for cytology, cleaning AU to remove wax and dirt, removing extra hair to allow air to circulate freely and avoid infection/administer medication to treat Otitis.
• Bathed and dipped dogs afflicted with infections and applied specific medications for itch relief/healing purposes.
• Administration of vaccinations, parasite prevention, HW prevention.
• Educated clients on animal health, preventive care and procedures.
• Other primary care duties as an LVT
