Job overview

As a campus counselor at John G. Tower Elementary, I provided direct and indirect services to students and their families from grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. I planned and implemented a counseling program that included guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support components. I planned structured group lessons to deliver the guidance curriculum effectively and in accordance with students' developmental needs. I accurately and without bias guided individuals and groups of students and parents to plan, monitor, and manage a student's own personal and social development. I used accepted theories and effective techniques to provide individual and group developmental, preventive, remedial, and/or crisis counseling. I collaboratively provided professional expertise to advocate for individual students and specific groups of students. I coordinated people and other resources in the school, home, and community to promote student success. With the assistance of school personnel, I interpreted standardized test results and other assessment data to guide students in individual goal setting and planning. I was responsible for all At-Risk coding and federal reporting of students. I advocated for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity. I established and maintained professional relationships with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, parents, and community members. I served as the campus Section 504 Coordinator; I followed state and federal guidelines and ensured that our campus was in compliance. I coordinated and facilitated Section 504 meetings. I implemented and provided staff support with the following curriculums: Second Step, Conscious Discipline, Zones of Regulation, Overcoming Obstacles, Harmony Sanford, and It Starts with Hello.
