Assist doctors with arterial line (A-line) insertion. Set up A-line and maintain proper functioning of device. Perform frequent lab draws and IV insertions. Respond to Codes in house throughout the hospital. Successfully initiate and participate as a team member in a Code, following ACLS guidelines. Act as charge nurse ensuring adequate staffing of the unit, handling administrative work, being a resource for my fellow team members.
- Follow DKA protocol, treating patients with insulin IV drip until successful titration to subcutaneous insulin/oral medications. Teach about diabetes education.
