I am writing on behalf of Ashley Martin. She was a Legal Assistant under my direct supervision for two years. Before I tell you about her bountiful achievements let me inform you first that this information comes to you on behalf of an individual with 15 years of management experience. I have seen many people come and go through the different state teams I have supervised or managed within the Office of Appeals, but few as rare as Ashley.
Ms. Martin is an incredible talent, with an impeccable work ethic, very rarely seen in people of her generation. Her professional dedication to being in the office every day, early, willing to work late hours to achieve our goals, as well as very professional conduct and respectful demeanor.
When Ashley joined our office, we were looking at an insurmountable back log of over 3000 decisions and 30,000 appeals along with over 3000 calls per day. Our work queues were two weeks behind. Also, with this challenge that we had an entirely new team with individuals that did not know the process.
Ashley was a docket officer. This means she handled elevated calls and legal matters that entry level staff could not handle, These often-involved constituent complaints from the Office of the Director, or Senator's Offices She completed monumental amounts of work that require intricate processing and accuracy in various databases. These colossal gains allowed her team to stay ahead of the curve through an enormously taxing and exigent workload and time period.
In my years I have rarely seen this capacity to learn instantly, dedication to detail, the ability to rise under such heavily stressful times. It is a trait I have seen in only some of those I have seen rise through the ranks in the state. Her MAP review was a 2.0 only because my docket officers are expected to excel this greatly just to meet expectations but I am sure that she will excel in any other team or office.
It is with extremely great sadness and only because of severe budget cuts in the state budget that we cannot hang on to her. But I urge you to consider her application as one of extreme value to you and your organization.
