Hobbies and Interests
I have a passion for the outdoors. My husband and I are active and have enjoyed many hours using the natural spaces provided in Westland since we moved to Michigan from Ohio in September2023. We love bike touring, bikepacking, and backpacking with our little dog. We have spent many hours exploring our new home state!, I have a love of crafting and art. I make crocheted items, including stuffed animals, which I take to craft markets for sale and have a small social media account for. I also paint and create unique sculptural items., I also have a passion for food! I have been delighted by the variety of small business eating establishments in the Westland area. We came from a small town in Ohio that had very little variety. The opportunity to experience the food culture here in MI has been an eye-opening and pleasant change.
Community Service
Community Service and Engagement, My goal is to move into a life of service to my community. As a mother of two twenty-something sons who have moved away from the family home, I find myself with time to give to myself and others. My husband and I are in our40s and can contribute to society in ways we had not felt possible while raising young children. For many years, I was absent from the secular workforce. My focus was to be home with my children, and my husband was the leading financial provider for our family. As I move into this new stage of life, I realize I have the energy, resources, and time to start a new phase of giving back. An opportunity to work in a city government position would provide me with experience vital to my future chosen profession as a social worker.
