As a Newton Alumni, I always knew I wanted to teach in the town that helped me grow into the woman I am today. The inspiration, care and discipline received from the teachers I crossed paths with helped me beyond my years at Newton ISD. Mrs. Judy Walker, Mrs. Avis Bean, Mrs. LaMonica, Mrs. Couey, Mrs. Creel, Mr. Meche, Mrs. Lydia Bean, Mrs. Laramore, Mr. Hicks, Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Hatton are just a few who I admired along the way. Since then, I have encountered a few educators since working at Newton ISD as a substitute and aide that have continued to keep the fire lit for my journey to becoming a teacher myself, Ms. Loftin being one of them.
My educational journey has not come easy since graduating high school in 2012. Becoming a mother, a wife, caring for an ill father, then a divorce and remarriage, has not formed the straightest path to success. However, the path has taught me just how strong, determined and passionate I am about my future in forming the youth of tomorrow. Becoming a mother myself, I am able to see on the parent side as well where some issues arise with teachers and staff which I can use to my ability within my own classroom at Newton ISD. I have two children involved with the Special Education system and learned quite a lot between aiding early on in a SPED class in both elementary and middle school and being involved with ARDS discussing accomodations needed for success which led to my recognition on how important inclusion classrooms are. As well as the importance to know all your students' needs.
I look forward to broadening my position at Newton ISD from substitute teacher to receptionist at the Administration building in the new school year. I aim to be successful in my daily tasks as well as my overall performance including growing strong, trustworthy relationships with fellow staff members for future change in positions within the school district. .
I thank you for your time and look forward to speaking with you further about continuing to be a Newton Eagle at the school district that helped build me into the woman I am today.
