  • I tutor in a variety of areas from the elementary school level through the collegiate level in courses such as English, Spanish 1-4 and collegiate Spanish, Geography, Civics, History (including AP World History), Psychology (including AP Psychology), and all math classes through Math 2. In this role, I also collaborate with parents and teachers to determine student needs, align tutoring strategies with classroom objectives, and assess student progress.
  • I have been working as a tutor since I was a sophomore in high school. The students who I have worked with have increased their grades tremendously, most of which have grown one full letter grade (from a C to a B, or from a B to an A).

Volunteering

  • From Sept. 2016 to Sept. 2019 I was an Assistant Sunday School Teacher at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Charlotte, NC: I worked with two groups of children aged 3-5 and 6-9. I assisted in teaching them biblical lessons by leading various activities and discussions, as well as watching over them to ensure their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
  • From May 2016 to Aug. 2017 I was a 'VolunTeen' then Teen Lead at the North County Regional Library in Huntersville, NC. In the summers of 2016 and 2017 I volunteered three days a week at the North County Regional Library in their VolunTeen Program. During my second year at the program, I was promoted to Teen Lead, meaning I was charged with overseeing the other VolunTeens and given greater responsibilities.
  • From Apr. 2017 to Jan. 2019 I was a volunteer at Huntersville Elementary School in the Amigos program where I assisted elementary aged Latino students with learning English after my school day ended.
  • From Feb. 2017 to May 2019 I was a student volunteer at the Elementary School on Pine Lake Prep's campus, and when my classes finished for the day I went to the lower school and aided the enrichment organizer by leading themed educational activities for the students in subjects such as engineering, reading, or Spanish. Additionally, I assisted in organizing their classrooms.
  • From Jan. 2018 to May 2019 I was a mentor in an organization called Tri-Musical Learning in which I taught underprivileged students the basics of how to read and play music. My background in piano and voice allowed me to improve the students' musical knowledge.

  • Junior Ambassador Scholarship (May 2019): I was awarded a $500 scholarship from my school for my commitment to my role as a Junior Ambassador.
  • The Empathy Award (August 2018): During my high school’s senior trip 5 students were selected who showed various qualities that our school looks for. I won the empathy award because of my initiative to welcome new students and make them feel at home in my school, as well as my ability to reach others on an emotional level and provide support to them.
  • Gold Presidential Medal of Service (May 2018): The minimum number of service hours required for my age to grant eligibility was 250, I completed 280.
  • Bronze Presidential Medal of Service (May 2017): The minimum number of service hours required for my age to grant eligibility was 50, I completed 70.
