My job as a Hostess at Miguel's Cocina was to first greet all customers with a warm and positive attitude upon their arrival to the restaurant and provide them clear information about the location as well as guide them to areas of the restaurant where they would be able to experience the best dining experience. On top of guiding customers to their preferred seating choice, I was in charge of organizing the floor plan of the restaurant, ensuring that all waiters were given a suitable amount of customers to serve, depending on hourly wait times, and arranging small and/or large reservations throughout the day. I was also in charge of handling phone services, answering customer questions about restaurant hours, reservations, take-out orders, and information about food items on the menu.
I also worked with other house staff related to my position as a hostess, communicating with them effectively about any large parties that were reserved, assisting bussers with cleaning server sections as well as assisting my supervisors with training new host staff.
As a FOH Cashier at Phil's BBQ, my main responsibility was greeting all customers, providing them a positive, welcoming introduction to the restaurant. I was entitled to take orders for indoor dining and take-out, therefore, it was also my responsibility to memorize the restaurant menu and educate myself on what food items could be modified for customer satisfaction and/or other food items could be upsold for a better price deal. Another responsibility that I was entrusted with as a cashier was handling transactions, organizing physical and digital finances, and issuing receipts. Apart from assisting customers, I was also in charge of assisting my other Front of House team members, coordinating larger groups of customers to a more suitable location of the restaurant with the help of bussers and hosts, communicating with managers about transaction disputes and refunds, as well as communicating with food expo runners about any modified orders.
